"Jesus called in a loud voice, "Lazarus come out!" The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. Jesus said to them, "Take off the grave clothes and let him go."
This past week at our cooking class, we shared this story found in John 11 while our homemade pretzels (that's right!) were baking. As we were reading this story to prepare for this weeks class, I was reminded of how powerful Jesus is and how everything is done to bring God glory. In this story, Jesus' close friend dies. Now Jesus could have stayed to prevent this from happening. He could have prevented Lazarus from becoming sick. However, He says in the beginning that the sickness won't end in death, but that it is for God's glory. As you continue to read the story you learn that Lazarus does in fact die, and that Jesus was moved to tears because they were such good friends. Yet towards the end he prays to God and thanks Him for always hearing him. He thanks God for allowing this to happen so that others would believe. Then Jesus has the grave opened (gross) and yells to the dead man to come out. ??? That's kind of strange as it is. However the craziest part is that the dead man comes strolling out of the tomb. The dead man is still covered in his grave clothes, but Jesus instructs the others to go and remove his grave clothes. He doesn't need them anymore. He's not dead, he's alive. It was a reminder to me not to walk around in my "grave clothes". And it was even more of a reminder that JC has the power to raise the dead...aka He has the power to change hearts that don't know Him. Join us in prayer for our dear sisters that come to our cooking class, who are still "lying in the grave". Pray that they would hear and listen to JC's voice as He yells their name to come out of the grave.

And here we have our finished pretzels! We made cinnamon sugar with a icing dip, and original flavor with a cheese dip. They were REALLY good.
