Of course the Twinks would share coconut water. :) This is my teammate Ashley. She's pretty awesome. Together we hold things down in S.A. We've become quite popular here in our little town...that's right, the white girls have moved in.
The next photos show a little bit about our new home. Lets begin this tour...
This is a pic of our room. We share a double bed in our pepto pink room. We're thankful that we both brought our pillows from home because the ones that our host family gave us feel as if they put rocks into pillow cases and then put them on our bed :)
Here we have our air conditioning unit...ha ha ha. No, but seriously...
Here's our mint green kitchen. Yes, that's an open wood burning stove. We roast our toast in the morning on our one little burner. We pretend we're camping when we cook.
There's our bathroom. I think it's nice that it matches our bedroom. How cute! We also some stray cats, cockroaches, and geckos that like to hang around in this area...
Here we have our "shower". Let me explain. You fill the green bucket with water, and then take the smaller silver bucket and dump the water from the green bucket on yourself. The blue bucket is typically used for laundry and or re-filling the toilet so it will actually flush. Now, you're probably wondering what that giant tub is in the back of the picture. That, my friends, gets filled with water every so often. When we run out of water (it happens) we can pull water out of this giant tub. :)
Lastly, we have me with some essentials while living in S.A. Giant bug zapper, a head lamp, and toilet paper. Head lamps come in quite handy when one needs to use the bathroom at night in their scary outdoor bathroom. It also allows one to read late at night when all one has in their room is a dinky little fluorescent bulb. Is it necessary to have a large tennis racket bug killer? No. But is it fun? Yes. As for the t.p....it costs a dollar a roll. Think about that the next time ya gotta go.
